I remember my first encounter with Sohail vividly. About 15 years ago, the interns with the best projects that summer were at a recognition in Ronler, and I was one of their sponsors. About 15 minutes late, Sohail comes slowly sauntering (or maybe strutting is more descriptive) into the room, looking left and right and nodding on his way to the front. He looked like Mussolini mugging in those old news reels. You could see every intern's eyes rolling before he even said a word, then he spent 15 more minutes telling us how great he was and left.

Had he just arrived on time and given a quick apology and introduction, he could have heard all the presentations in the same amount of time, and left a positive impression on bright kids that we wanted to hire. Instead, he came off as the arrogant egotist that nobody would want to work for.

But then again, we had a salesman running the company that had made the biggest blunder in corporate history, and we were two generations ahead of the competition. Nothing would ever challenge that.

ChatGPT only gets part of the story. It completely misses the internal cultural decay over the last decade or so where Intel abandoned its original culture that made it so successful in the past in exchange for "Wokeness". Perhaps that's a 'blind spot' for ChatGPT due to its programming. Or perhaps ChatGPT is afraid to say the truth for fear of being "cancelled".

This is due to a lack of capital to keep up with leading edge node development . Intel is tapped out on flat PC volumes.
