I have been here a little under six months. I was never this worried in my life. I left a good job for a better paying one but I'm no longer sure I made the right choice. I'm going to assume that the "last one in, first one out" is going to apply when it comes to these layoffs, which means I'm screwed.

If you were hired 6 months in the middle of hiring freeze and when smaller layoffs had been already started, I assume your position is very important for the company growth. So I wouldn't be worried.
Even if you survive this one, you will be left worrying about another round of layoffs in 2024 when the recession officially sets in
i was laid off from meta 2 months after i joined (left Qualcomm for Meta ), not a good place to be especially with the 60 day h1b grace period hanging over , i would recommend you start prepping , its much better to be prepared than wait for the sword to fall
If you feel like this imagine what the employees feel like that spent 20-30 yrs dedicating their lives to this co. and then laid off or forced to retire.
@azh+1o6swQur Yes, but Q is the worst run, with layoffs every four to five years, and execs who are waaaay overpaid compared to their counterparts at much more successful companies. Good thind they’re an AI company now, lol.
Welcome to the jungle!
You are definitely a newbie. Your assumptions are all wrong! And Qualcomm isn’t the only tech company doing massive layoffs
I hear you.. it’s been less than 2 months for me
