Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Been here for 3 years and realizing its been the biggest career mistake

This company has no future or real growth prospects. Stock price is in the gutter and will keep trending to zero.

No one is engaged or cares about anything happening; 95% of the people here are seat warmers and literally do nothing most of the time.

No budget for training or any sort of push for growth. Management wants medicority and incompetence.

Everyday here is brain rot; run as far as possible.

They don’t even have a budget (training, going to conferences, etc) to invest in their own employees; one excuse after another.

Im stuck here because of the 401k vesting but after that I am jumping as far away as possible, this place is the biggest failure in my career.

yea I agree.. I see all the SW people who was hired in the last 3 years from top to the bottom and all are a big mistake. the feeling is mutual buddy.

I do agree on the complacency with skills. For some reason, it seems easier to hire from the outside, spend years teaching outsiders about automotive culture and Ford processes, then it is to invest in your own employees. And many upper levels don't seem interested anyway. They don't add to their skill set and don't bother with LinkedIn, with what I guess is their belief layoffs will never touch them.

And that is what leads the show at Ford. People rushing from one meeting to another, working on PowerPoint decks that get looked at once, and it's always reactive over proactive. I wish Ford placed more importance on training the willing instead of just assigning 1s all over the PRs

Former Ford employee here. RIF'd a few years ago. Spent a few years at a worse place. While Ford is bad, there are places that are even worse!

So be sure to thoroughly vet any place you go.

Look. Reposting the same tired thing helps no one and does nothing. If you're unhappy, which most of us are, then upskill. There's all kinds of stuff to learn for free online. If you're a direct employee then you have more options to learn.
Yeah, stuff su-ks and management is terrible. Yeah, processes are old and broken. We know, or at least those of us who aren't lifers know. This market is trash. We're stuck here for awhile.
