During Covid I relocated to a different state. Now I am being asked to return to my work state by Feb 15th. I have been tagged as a hybrid employee- and have to go in once a week. WTF?? What good will that do? I have been working remotely for almost 2 years and the team is so productive. Do I really have to come back?

Omicron might change everything this winter. I don't want that to be true, but early indications don't look good.
You are "Confused and Angry" about hybrid work option but still take the time to laugh at and belittle people who don't have the same choice and have to be in-person in the office? Real classy.
@axh+1ejlvkXN you are a funny one!! Lol! The very reason I made this post was because I am one of those fortunate few who can work remotely. Sorry if you cannot. Don’t be jealous!! I can and will work remotely. All that remains to be seen is how Intel will navigate the future of the workplace. Like one poster said things are constantly changing and more and more organizations are allowing their workforce to become completely remote. Now go wipe your tears, have a snack and smile 😃🤣
@OP the entitlement mentality and privileged thinking comes from your expectation to keep your job at Intel even after moving out of state. Why should you get special treatment while others have to struggle? I know you're probably not used to hearing this in your privileged existence, but the bottom line is: Either follow company policy or get a new job.
Sell all of your INTC stocks/options and buy ETH and BTC. You’ll thank me by end of next year. You can stick it to Chief Po-op Officer Christy.
I am no longer in OR but moved to another state where Intel does have a presence albeit a small one. I have also been transparent with my manager and updated my new address with the firm.
Half truth??? Hahahahaha what? I moved out of my home state - not returning, don’t regret the move and just asked if anyone had any knowledge about the Future of Workplace decisions. I don’t understand the need to call out or shame me for moving with my family. Please enlighten me about your thought process.
I wonder if you are in Oregon. I actually don’t mind coming in once per week...but if I choose to live in SW Washington that’s where I will work most of the time.
It may be that Oregon needs the tax income so we have to still declare Oregon for tax purposes.
Please say more about your circumstances (you cannot talk to your supervisor?) so the strangers here can comment (being sarcastic). If your spouse got better job and so you moved, why don't you? What good things about INTC keep you still here?
No wonder Intel is no longer a great place to work thanks to you @OP+1ejlvkXN, giving out half truth and seeking suggestions from total strangers.
Don’t we have some as-----s amongst us!! Hybrid is once a week for 4 hours a day. My spouse got a much better job and so we moved. I don’t regret that one bit but I do regret that mo--nic and judge mental jerks like you both responded. No wonder Intel is no longer a great place to work thanks to you id--ts!
@OP, really? Moved out of state based on a temporary WFH situation? What did you think was going to happen? Now you are crying about your situation which YOU were the cause of.
Either suck it up and go back to the office or find a new job.
Seriously, the entitlement mentality of some people!
@OP: do you pay the taxes to the work state or your home state? Also, when your coworkers return to the office and you are only one still WFH, would your coworkers think you are productive?
I remember a few years pre-Covid Intel had signs in the cafe that said fruit and drink were only for Blue badge employees. And if were a Blue badge, you could only take 1 fruit per day. What kind of cheap a-s tech company does that. "Coffee's for closers ONLY." Except in this case, it's more like "Coffee's for losers, ONLY."
Cue the person of a certain ethnic origin stuffing a shitload of bananas and oranges down her pants every day after work.
Find a sane company that understands the world has changed,
Free fruit!!! There's free fruit in the cafeteria!!!
Lol, you folks are funny! Gas problems seems like such a great idea and of course the fruit - how can we forget about the fruit and not express gratitude.
Don't say anything yet. This WFH may get extended.
you took a risk - maybe it will pay off and you will get to stay. probably not. if Intel does not want to pay for great talent because they are out of state, it's their loss not yours. The question remains then - do you need Intel more than they need you?
Tell them you have terrible gas problems.
Yes, you must return, intel doesn’t spend millions a year on fruit — only one per day — for it to just sit there in the cafeteria like a Xe graphics engineer for nothing.
