Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

The Strategy

Union Pacific is showing interest in Norfolk Southern is because we really want CSX and know that if we show interest in Norfolk Southern Berkshire Hathaway will out bid us just like they did for Santa Fe Pacific. See Below.
👇
June 1994: BN and Santa Fe Pacific announce a planned merger, with BN offering $2.7 billion.
October 1994: UP launches a hostile, unsolicited bid to acquire Santa Fe Pacific for $3.4 billion, sparking a bidding war.
October 1994: BN responds by increasing its offer to $3.25 billion.
January 1995: UP withdraws its offer, clearing the way for the BN-Santa Fe merger.

@ax unless they think they can get a fire sale of a deal because of all the cr-p they have going on. That’s the only reason I think they would try for NS personally.

Why would you want NS with all the lawsuits and stuff going on with the Ohio derailment? Sounds like a big liability.
