Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

The only ones left here are the ones who can almost taste retirement

No point jumping ship when you’re this close, even if the place is Titanic. One coworker’s down to his last few months and keeps joking about getting laid off, as if that’d ever happen. The rest just glare at their calendars and suffer in silence. At this point, I get why they’re staying, but damn, it’s bleak.

@bg+1jrdbjfq3 I keep hoping for severance but never happens so I keep grinding on. I've let management know for several years now to rif me first to save other folks.

I know people in the same boat as @ax+1jrdbjfq3 that share some of the same details. Those of us left behind were shocked when these people were randomly let go. And we're P1$$3D that they were let go because in many cases they were the only person on a team that had any clue how to do their job. If we're lucky, they're one of a handful thay knew their job, but now they're gone and the remaining knowledgeable people are carrying more of the load and are less able to do their best. All while the layoff "sword of damacles" hangs over their head, and they dream of leaving, sneaking in interviews where they can. Efficiency suffers, then is destroyed when they finally get an exit plan.

You have to factor in you are going to be laid off at Fiserv at some point. Always be ready to leave Fiserv on your own accord and never turn down an interview with another company

I can argue against that sentiment. I was 2 years from minimum retirement age, and was let go last year after 26 years... AND 6 weeks after having a heart attack! I was a high performer and didn't sit on my hands for anything. Also an expert in certain tech areas. They just don't care... If your management doesn't like you for some reason that's all it takes, really. Emotional decisions, not business.
