It seems that, in the past, either UHC or Optum has a big RIF and then the other company follows 2 weeks later. The Optum RIF yesterday was pretty significant so wondering why I’m not hearing anything about UHC (thankfully). But I’m still thinking that this is the trend and wondering what comes (if anything) in 2 weeks. Seems all is quiet. Too quiet…

pretty sure they've been trying to get people to quit with the return to office push so no idea. our department is still getting backfills approved and those would be first to be cut if layoffs were coming.
@20w just think of the hourly people who ar not in on the call not given heads up just told use pto and request it a new way all left in the dark. Why can't anyone tell us
The Optum RIF WAS NOT VERY significant
@20w I understand that this is the first time you're hearing about this for the m & r and c & s side. It’s been a challenging time with all the changes regarding time off and adjustments in the workforce. It makes a lot more sense now, and I appreciate how difficult this can be.
Does anyone know about the M&R and C&S programs? Told we are being “restructured “ to a manager known for chopping people. An almost 3 min call with the manager to tell us the news and hung up, left us all a little rattled.
@r6 I did find out that the goal for the latest round was 25% of US based employees under Mahmoud ElAssir. 25% was achieved at least under Kahliq Raza.
@nc Somehow, I doubt the 70% figure will ever even come close to fruition
@aw our UHC team lost 2 people/positions on 10/30. We are part of Marketing.
Just an FYI from what I have been hearing their goal was 20%. Take that with a grain of salt as I don't know if it was 20% of Optum tech or specific departments or teams. What I do know is the people being let go are specifically US based and they are already interviewing for India new hires for replacements. They are calling it "Globalization efforts" internally but it has been said the goal is to eventually have 70% of the workforce in India.
@aw evidence of this?
There were UHG layoffs yesterday. I don’t know how many, but at least one CSuite.
@OP Personally, I doubt anything happens
