Are there any companies you've been applying to where you've actually heard back for an interview?

I went to a competitor. Smaller company but more stable. That is more than I can say for many from my Optum layoff cohort. One got a better job, one got a contract job, and several have been fully unemployed since. The worst is one who purchased a home last year at high interest rates and has no income now.
@d7 Don't get discouraged. Update your resume and connect with everyone you can. I found a job I absolutely love within a few weeks of my final day at Optum. A little luck, a few connections and prayer (wink). I had 3 interviews within a few weeks and 2 job offers. Be strategic in what positions you apply to every time. Most importantly, find what makes you truly unique and sell yourself!
The unemployment office told us to expect it to take 6-9 months to find a white collar job. They say it is the worst job market in 20 years.
This isnt Linkedin...
It took me 4 mos to find a new job and I now work for a competitor doing a similar job. Prior to lay off when I could tell things were going south I watched my spending and there were no big purchases. I put the mortgage a few monthes ahead to help me out. You will get another job. I am much happier with my new employer. It will be ok.
@av What are those companies? I think I want to do that for sometime to clear my head!
@av How long did you receive unemployment?
Most companies are laying off. Try contract agencies. Took me 9 months to find a job.
will let you know when i get there, making my short list now. i'm sick and tired of this double work, zero pay increase BS.
I would like to know too. It is rough out there and wondering if I am doing something wrong....sigh.
