been no talk of a July 4 week shutdown
Is this next shutdown (in July) for US only or worldwide? or specific sites?
@auc..No one is blaming the management. Hardly anyone had any expectiations from them to begin with.
Historically, July shutdowns have been in the week of the 4th. I have no information on if or when a shutdown is coming, but I'd bet on that week if one comes.
One can blame poor management decisions all day long. But don’t ignore the fact that hard drives aren’t selling. WD shipped 40% fewer HDD’s last year than the year previous. Flash prices are down.
That isn’t to say this is a great management team. But at some point even the best can’t make money if no one wants the product.

In addition to another RIF on 8/16, which specific week is for the shutdown?
Yes, another RIF is planned in August. Prior to the hacking incident there were layoffs planned for March/April and June/July. The hack pushed out the RIF dates. There were program code names assigned to the RIFs so as to hide what is going on, like Phoenix.
So sad, lost productivity and so many lives impacted by poor management decisions.
