Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

BCOM 401k contribution amounts

VMware folks could only contribute a whole percentage amount (i.e. 1%, 2% not 1.5%).

We will not have access to BCOM 401k until January.

Would like to know if BCOM allows dollar amount contributions and/or partial percentages (i.e. 1.5%).

Also curious if BCOM allows people to opt out of contributions being taken out of bonuses (VMware was blanket, base and bonus treated the same).

There is no cap for 6% matching from Broadcom. But make sure to contribute to get your matching.

If you are stating the limitations based on being a bcom employee that’s great, thank you.

But… it has nothing to do with fidelity, that restriction is set by the company/stock administrator. I know plenty of people at different companies that also leverage fidelity and have a much more granular contribution ability (I.e. dollar amount and partial percentages)

"Make sure to join after tax 401k to get access to mega back door roth conversion.

What's this about?"

Allows you to put close to 70K into your 401K each year. Most of it post tax (Roth style) via a loophole. Fidelity allows it, VMware used to have it, and apparently Broadcom offers it as well. The limit for 2024 is 69K or 76,500 (If you're over 50).

What’s the max dollar amount match by BCM? It’s say 6%, but what’s the cap? For example VMW would match up to 9K? What’s the BCM equivalent ?

Broadcom 401k is also with Fidelity, so only whole %s. Broadcom contributions to 401k are only from base and not from bonus.
