Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

What are you hearing about Feb 9th week for Support Office layoffs?

Tons of rumors about layoffs starting Wednesday or Thursday, followed by a town hall. And/or significant re-organization. What groups are you hearing will be impacted? Are there any areas deemed "safe" from layoffs? Feels like something big is about to happen.

@at I am also leaving Walgreens soon. Your experience was the exact same as mine, it took way to long to get my confidence back. The poisonous behavior I was receiving was visible to others. I hope to join you in your relief!

After 10yrs, I was cut in 2015. It hurts like he-l and all you’ll soon find that all of your work friends were transactional. HOWEVER, there is a brighter light out there. YOU will be fine. YOU will bounce back. My best too all.

@av Even if you are told you are safe I wouldn't trust it. A DM was told he was safe earlier this week and was not. He was putting up the best district numbers on multiple metrics in the area and was still laid off. He was told he was safe by those above him, but it looks like they went after those with high tenure/high pay. The DMs they kept make no sense from a metrics standpoint.

@aq Thanks. But are you really hearing these numbers by area, or speculating? Are any teams being told they’re safe?

I left Walgreens last month for a new role. The company I’m at now is stable, low drama, and I actually have the resources I need to do my job. At Walgreens I was beaten down daily, told I wasn’t doing good enough, while still having more work thrown on my plate. That stress is all gone in the new role.

I got out before the storm arrived because I saw the clouds on the horizon. I don’t miss Walgreens. Not one minute.

If you are impacted next week, I promise life is better on the other side. If you aren’t impacted, I cannot imagine the workload you’re about to be tasked with handling.

For what it’s worth, on the 10th there are a number of meeting rooms blocked from 8-5 by exec admin for global talent management. The rooms are across multiple buildings - 200, 108, 102…

I think it’s the 8th when impacted people are told and the 9th will be the report announcement. Today and Monday are the rest of the field layoffs
