Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Is Tomorrow Really the Day?

Is it possible it could be next week? The meeting invite to inform you are being laid off is usually sent around this time.

Mine was a teams message from my manager asking me to jump on a quick call. I was ready, since one of my other coworkers had just said that was what happened to them. It wasn’t an email. I set my phone to record, and asked two questions - am I eligible for rehire (should be yes) and what is the PTO payout policy (varies by state is my understanding). Just have your thoughts in order, be ready to have the difficult conversation if it’s your turn, stay professional, ask the questions you need to about severance, benefits, equipment return, etc. Oh, and if you haven’t taken your floater - tomorrow is a great day for that! Last thing - I do feel like some folks are stirring the pot a little more than needed on here. Stay professional, try to maintain friendships that you’ve made, and don’t spread rumors that only cause more stress. Full disclosure - I’ve got several friends who are thinking they are next to get RIFed, so I’m on here. I’ve been gone for months. Not a fan of the company or senior management, but there are still lots of good folks trying to do the right thing. Take care of yourselves and your friends and family.

The reason these types of posts are bullsh-t fearmongering is that nobody is going to send you notice of your own farewell. No company wants to give employees time to exfiltrate data or cause damage. They want you gone and out as fast as possible.

You have to just live life and log off when your hours are done. 90 hr weeks won’t save you. Doom prophecies of the worst RIF ever happening this very week, every single week, likewise won’t help you mentally or professionally.
