Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Is it really ok for nonUS employees to have access to your personal account.

I once had an Amex credit card, I cancelled it as the support was from overseas. I did not like the fact that my personal account info was readily available to a non US citizen.
The support lead assured me that all is well as they were official Amex FTE’s.

My reasoning was this, if a US citizen steals my account, I have some sort of recourse. I can press charges, sue them etc… If a non US citizen steals my account, there’s nothing I can do.

I realize you are going to be hard pressed to find a company that only employs US only FTE’s but seriously. Is it really ok for them to know your account numbers, SSN numbers, banking routing numbers etc…. ?

You’re worried about non-US people having access ? Worry about ATT for example who admitted (3rd time) another breach of customer data. SSN and DOB were included although ATT said don’t worry no financial information was exposed. WT*!

A friend of mine worked as a developer for another bank. According to “that bank” it was ok to let foreign employees have access to test data. Test data, to them, was any data that’s 24 hours old, so they had access to your account numbers, SSN, driver’s license number, credit reports along with any account associated numbers listed in that etc…
Which is freaking insane, its not like your SSN is dynamic, its static and never changes, along with your banking acct number and so forth but because its over 24 hours old its a free for all.

The most concerning thing is that this test data was kept on a server live on the web, no firewall…meh, its test data its ok.

Crazy talk. You make it sound like the countries like the Slavic or APAC regions were known for hacking attempts, selling of personal data on the dark web and identity theft due to lax cyber security enforcement laws. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any such thing being done by China before. This post is nuts and unwarranted.
