Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Slack Org Chart NOW

Go to Slack and check your org chart .. there are many changes and some of us are left with no one to report to ... like an orphan ...

i don't know what it mean .. are the opt ins stil there ? it almost seems live like numbers changing and so far
MTV - seems to be untouched generally in marketing
anyway look before they figure it out ...

has anyone heard from a leadership position or HR to say this is unrelated ...
my Dir was just vague - and then said she couldn't comment more ...
i felt like she could have said yes we know there are layoffs soon but this slack situation is unrelated ...

The attempts to explain away that slack org is simply inaccurate can be swallowed more easily if the inaccuracies are simply random errors.

As it is, there are patterns in the inaccuracies, namely, many principals who were reflected correctly in slack just a few days ago, are shown as orphaned starting last night.

I agree that there may be other explanations, but this cannot be explained away with simply saying that Slack org chart is wonky.

Just want to add my voice as well about Slack not having correct information on the org chart. Even Outlook has been wonky lately. The Directory accessed through Murray seems to be the most accurate.

The Slack org chart has been missing people for months. It is not an accurate representation of the org and means nothing about who is getting laid off or not. My org chart has direct reports of mine not listed under me and it's been that way since the org chart feature launched months ago. It's a total mess and not a source of truth.

@b2 my team member was not like this a week ago bc we counted how many reports our boss had .. only member on team - not new or opt in 5 year employee - and no place to just realign him .. something caused that ...
it's possible management in here now trying people to calm down ... but i do think they could have stopped what they were doing ...
he may ask our boss - i'll update if i hear

@b1 we are still waiting for plausible explanation on what could make slack org or AD to selectively picked principal level ICs to get orphaned. I mean, other than just saying it’s wonky or messed up.

The silence is rather deadening

It's been broken for weeks. This is not Layoff related.

@ay Idk, maybe, but then why did so many EVPs and other execs get orphaned? Maybe it’s due to possible leadership realignment like being assigned into a new vertical?

I can’t believe this is how I’m finding out that I’m about to be laid off.

@av I think this is only applied for IC level. May not be applicable to VP or EVP levels.

@as It's because they are still on payroll till severance is over

@at hit your name in slack - see if you still report to anyone under org chart

@ar We are supposed to use initials on this thread for privacy reasons. AG reports into DE so it shouldn’t be too hard for you to figure out. Also, you seem to be missing the point.

Point being: even new people are orphaned so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

How can I access my org chart from slack? Never checked it there.

Slack still has people in it that were impacted in the last round of layoffs. Something is definitely happening, but it’s not as up to date as one would think.

@aq sorry no idea who that is. The initials dont mean anything to me

I said this on the other thread but posting here for visibility:

think we may be jumping to conclusions because JT on AG’s team is also orphaned on Slack, and JT was literally just hired 2 months ago.

@am I think they are not done makin the changes, maybe many more are about to be done. And now our conversation in this rumor site interrupted that updates, and likely stop the updates until they figure out why Slack reflects the updates

this makes sense for new employees or changing reporting employees but ten plus year employees orphaned out with the rest team staying the same is curious and or suspicious but it's not 3000 employees so who knows ...

an observation. The org chart in Murray has a note stating:
Due to ongoing integration activities new members to the Paramount directory may not be immediately visible in the org chart. If Slack sources the org chart details from the same place as the org chart in Murray there could be a similar issue pulling in existing people into the org chart in Slack.

@ae agree but these changes are very interesting to have all these employees no longer in the report structure ..

@ae Can you shine some light on what might have happened in AD that cause it to selectively changed the org chart to remove many principal level ICs and some non principals as well?

Me and my manager both got orphaned . But I do see too many in office critical resources got orphaned.
So I hope this is some other issue .

@OP Don't use Slack, use Success Factors. That is the HR system, which is the source of truth. Slack comes from AD, which has been whonky.

the orphans that I see and know are the people i figured were least likely to get let go

I feel like there could be something else going on here

@aa I don’t though because that same EVP has been in integral meetings with the new leadership team and those same discussions are extending into the same week as the layoffs and beyond that date.

@a8 deep down you already know the answer

search 'All people' in Slack and filter on title 'principal'. many of these have been orphaned for whatever reason.

Our team’s principal (EVP) is orphaned on the Slack org chart (no manager showing), but there are also a couple of people on his team who are also orphaned on Slack (no manager or direct reports). Not everyone, but a few. What could that possibly mean?

FWIW all of my teams (going up to everyone that ladders up to the same SVP) opt ins are still on our org charts in slack

slack - go your managers name - org chart - check names under - people missing
if you go to their specific name - they exist but no reporting
something changed ..
