Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Too many layers, too little accountability

Intel is top-heavy to the point of dysfunction. There are so many layers of management that real decisions either get delayed or lost in translation entirely. The people doing the work are often left out of strategic discussions, while directors and VPs spend more time guarding turf than solving problems. If these issues get solved with these layoffs, I'm all for it.

crazy true. most managers, directors, vp, cvp are non-technical. Look at PEG group embarrassing. never seen or written technical doc, code, in 15+ years. Competition is ki-ling us since at every level extremely technical. Even Jenson or Lisa very technical. All CVP and VPs just manage OKRs and play turf games.

"That is what I have been tell my co workers. Intel fell off its pedestal along time ago because they thought no one could touch them. They will never get back on top of the pedestal again because there are other companies in the way. "

Could you imagine working with this clown dressed as Chicken Little?

Even if the number of layers is reduced, if the managers have no technical knowledge, it will be in the same mess and it will not save Intel. Image the id--t manager managing 1000-2000 people, and ask everyone to please and follow him. Everyone is trying make the manager happy and ends up obeying a stupid non-technical person. This is like a blind across the river. Intel is completely dead. Read all books on why a company failed, it is all the same reason: the management layers have no technical knowledge.

All the top-heavy layers are still there, it is getting much worse: the ratio of managers get increased. The trick is, some manager are switching to new title of tech lead, but they are still on the managing loop to decrease efficiency and block engineering based decisions. More “fake” in the company - like more weed in the grassland.

Yes. They will continue to strip out the layers until the only one standing is a na--d, Asian power forward. Let that sink in
