Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

XOM is a five-year gig, tops

Anything longer is just pouring energy into a dead end. Looks good on a resume, but don't expect a career or any real payoff.

Anyone with under 5 years experience should really be asking if the pension will exist 5 years from now.

@as You sound like you never served a day in your life, let alone fought for a rating, which is process that can take years.

I’m guessing you’re also cheering on the war (that we’re currently losing) against Iran. You know, the one that doubled your commuting costs and has yet to create any O&G jobs.

Been saying this for a while. Even if you have sponsorship it has to be hi up. I’m watching some top performers the pecking order is changing right in front of them and it hurts.

@ar seeing all the VA disability payment scams makes me think I made a huge mistake not joining the airforce. I could be getting 4k in disability for non combat BS “injuries” forever.

@OP So is every other job, except maybe the military, where you get 45 days of paid leave every year, and good performance is actually rewarded with higher rank/pay/responsibility.
