And I don’t even care anymore. I’ve given up on trying to make a difference because nothing changes no matter how hard you push. At this point, it’s just about getting through the day, collecting a paycheck, and hoping the next round of layoffs skips my name.

I imagine not mentioning the project is a means of not letting management, who reads these, know who they are. Management mentioned comments here in "the layoff" specifically in a meeting.
Need as few targets on our backs as possible.
And what's pointless about the project, or what are you doing? Seems odd you are just venting without providing any information.
