Internal positions are coronations not earned. It depends on how much the person hiring likes you not performance or tenure. It also is generally related to your heritage organization with ST preference. You can see how much BBT talent remains. ST drives the bank now. It’s also the most important part of why Truist is swirling the bowl.
What @ar said is 100% correct. I spent 20 years at this sh-t hole and this is exactly how it works. So... SO... happy to be gone.
If its an internal posting the answer is NO. The hiring manager already knows who is getting the job/promotion before the requisition goes live. Internal postings are a waste of time unless you were assured the job was yours (on the DL of course) prior to applying.
