Now we’re hearing rumors about next week, but mostly we’re just guessing what’s going to happen and which teams might get hit. It’s always like this. No one tells us anything, and we’re left stewing in anxiety indefinitely. It’s like they forget we’re human. Morale’s already in the gutter, and this constant guessing game just makes it worse. We’re expected to perform like nothing’s happening, while we all are waiting for another shoe to drop. I’m burned out. Not from the work, but from the layoffs.

Yes, the only thing you CAN do is save. I have a lot of savings and if the worst happens, I'll be OK, though I'll likely just be forced to retire. I had intended to put more away over the next couple of years but I don't think my chances of surviving are good. Plus I may not be able to stand staying here. I miss having a meaningful job I enjoy. I had one until Dell acquired my company (not EMC!) and it's been downhill since then.
@ch YES!!!! Time for financial conservation!
This whole situation should be a wake up call to whomever is reading these posts.
Save Save Save
It will be taboo to some but can you really afford children?
Can you really afford a new 80K vehicle?
Do I need a new 100K kitchen?
Don't scoff at these questions. There are people that are so economically underwater that they still think they can borrow their way to prosperity.
Save like you've never saved before because it's not just Dell doing these cost cuttings. It is all Tech. Hopefully, someday there will be a time when personnel will have the upper hand but that isn't the situation right now.
Talk to anyone around here and you’ll see it : 90% of people are done. Fed up. No trust left in this company or its so-called leadership.
If a Tell Dell survey dropped right now, the results would be nuclear. eNPS would crash through the floor somewhere between -110 and 0, and total collapse.
And what’s being done about it? Nothing. Absolute radio silence from the top while everything burns. It’s pathetic, and frankly, it’s a disgrace. We've never seen it this bad.
Just look at the time adherence — in my group, there are days when over 80% of people don’t even show up. That’s how checked out everyone is. They’ve stopped caring because the work no longer means anything.
What’s truly disheartening is that even management has given up. They’ve abandoned their own teams. No guidance, no accountability — just silence. It’s like everyone’s watching the ship sink in slow motion and no one’s trying to steer. I’m still here, but it’s heartbreaking to watch a company you’ve poured so much of your time and energy into slowly fall apart. It's even insulting.
I've been applying for things here and there for the past year and I've gotten 0 callbacks. There is a lot of competition for some types of roles. It's easy to say "Don't worry! Just get another job!" but making that actually happen isn't always easy. We don't have control over getting hired somewhere else, either. It's tough when you're stuck.
But what if it doesn’t get better. In your case, your dad’s situation worked out. That’s great but it doesn’t always work out.
Being tormented and expected to say thank you for the chaos is f’d up. I don’t expect people to forgive and to trust the company anymore.
I’m surprised more people haven’t left but the job market isn’t the greatest.
IDGAFA. that's my attitude, i do what i am told to do, i excel at doing my job, and if they don't know how to appreciate me then they can go f... themselves.
ISG isn’t done cutting heads, layoffs are happening this week and next. They’ve already trimmed the fat at the management level, and now they’re coming for tech support. If you're in L2 or L3, don’t get too comfortable, your job’s most likely heading to India, just like the rest.
I'll tell you what my dad told me ...I remember it like it was yesterday but it the summer of 1986. We were standing in the driveway of the house I grew up in and I had just been indefinitely laid-off from one of the big three in the Detroit area and I was panicked. He said "why worry about something you have no control over"...I've had to look back on that day several times over my career and his words have always rang true....I totally understand how many people are currently feeling...I remember all the downturns, all the recessions, the global financial crisis, closed plants, mergers, takeovers and even company bankruptcy...It will get better but I agree the not knowing is the worst. I always tried to keep moving forward and hopefully you have a good support network around you.
Wouldn't them telling you now that you are being laid off next week be the same thing as telling you next week that you would be laid off the following week?
You're creating your own issues with this.
