Thread regarding Progressive Insurance layoffs

Layoffs in Q4 2025

Rumors are getting strong that there will be big layoffs in Q4 2025. HR is preparing the lists. Each VP got a target number for their department. It will be a sad Xmas season for a LOT of people.

Sounds like it is going to be a quarterly thing from now.

Glad they are finally addressing the problem with all the under performers.

Unfortunately the under-performers are the executives based on statements like "Each VP got a target number for their department". That allows them to be vindictive and get rid of people who they dont like, not just the low performers. Why is there not a target number of VPs and Executives that they need to keep while letting others go?

The reason for layoffs and the way that Progressive does it is for greed, not because of AI. This plan was hatched earlier in 2025 when they said they were hiring 12,000 people. The career professionals at Progressive had no idea that there positions were going to be replaced at the end of the year.

Laying people off before they can get the gainshare in December and January with only two weeks' notice and no thanks for all the year of service is downright malicious! However, this works perfectly so that Tricia Griffith and other execs can redirect the bonuses to all of the scoundrels who can fire people without mercy. I am sure they will have new toys, cars and houses for the holidays. Anyone who stays at Progressive after this year will only experience the same fate next year.

2 weeks notice is all the employees get, no annual bonus (which was due in December) and no warning of any type. Progressive will probably give their top executives a larger bonus based which was earned by the employees they overworked over the course of their careers.

They are executing the plan now and its not just under performers. Apparently replacing a lot of people with AI
