Thread regarding Blackbaud Inc. layoffs

Huge chance of a layoff on/before 2/24

Can anyone confirm this rumor?

There is now a PTG all-hands meeting sent out today for 8:35AM EST on 2/24.

I have a bad gut feeling about this. Too many layoff announcement red flags (meeting time, date).

In order for you to be replaced there needs to be someone to take your spot. Unless you are doing mundane work that is immaculately documented and requires little thinking you'll likely be here until you start seeing India new hires on your team. At the moment they just don't have enough to replace a significant amount of of BB personnel. I mean it's going to happen...eventually. As one mentioned below, if you can't hang for the severance hit the job boards. From talking with my manager and lead it seems that the canary in the coal mine is new hires on the team. Hopefully everyone saw the email about the new time code “Knowledge Transfer”.

Any idea on when layoff will happen? Aren’t a bunch of stock vesting dates coming up? Someone below said they received a WhatsApp message saying they will be impacted when it happens, when will that be?

@et Oh they are about to cut some fat, muscle and bone....

@em I'm sure they'd be open to selling, but no one is buying software companies right now.
Interest rates are still high and there is a lot of instability in the market because of ai.

And the more efficient they become via offshoring and other efforts, the less attractive they become to clearlake and other pe firms, because there's no fat to cut.

@e8 Has it occurred to you that they all want to retire by selling? That’s usually why a GCC is started. This is not a global company, no matter how much that word is thrown out to everyone. Mike has an agenda, wake up!

@ee Product innovation died a long time ago, arguably.

Sorry, I don't buy it. They're not going to replace everyone all at once.

When it happens, it's going to be team by team, and you'll know ahead of time because they'll ask you to start training your replacement team.

They simply don't have enough bbi employees already hired to replace everyone all at once, and hiring is slow enough that they can't hire them all at the drop of a hat, it will take months.

@e8 are you saying that the entirety of PTG (formally RDO) is being fully offshored? I find that hard to believe. I’m sure they’ll have significant impacts, but offshoring fully would basically bring product innovation or ops to a halt.

@ec or do you mean all of PTG?

@e6 Update: that group is being fully relocated to India. Kevin intends to retire soon, this is his final project.

For anyone remaining, hold for a severance package. The earnings call referenced a planned $8–10M allocated for severances this year.

Yep I just got a whatsapp from someone "in the know“ telling me my name and others in my team are likely included. It‘s unsurprising but I‘m still speechless and still haven’t stopped crying.

I‘m just going to pretend I’m working before they pull the trigger and organize some interviews at other companies. Hopefully the severance is good. Goodluck everybody, praying for everyone!

@ax you're right. They did push the meeting back to 10.05. I thought it was a new meeting

@aq They sent out a meeting invite for 8:35 in the morning, then moved it back to 10:05. Are you saying you have an explicit different meeting invite later in the day? Who was it sent to? Just you? A list of people? A mailing group?

I also received a second meeting invite for follow up. I am guessing that is where the bad news will be delivered?

With what they signaled you should be assuming layoffs are coming and you will be in them. It's not really beneficial to fever yourself over if it's this month or next. If you're not in a position to handle being laid off you should be looking for a new position now to shorten the unemployment gap.
