Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Fired because of tell dell feedback

Had a meeting today with her and my manager entitled organizational update.

Unfortunately I have been let go. When I quizzed why they said that my outlook did not match that of the company. I was puzzled as to what they meant so pushed a little and they mentioned my negative feedback about rto on tell dell

I thought this was meant to be anonymous?

Very angry right now

Just for the record people, Managers only know the country of origin the TD feedback comes from. So maybe in AMER that won't be relevant, but in EMEA, with team members from all over Europe and middle east...it does ;)

If you look in your workday profile there is a tab for tell Dell responses. If you know data, you know they track everything. Is tied to tire group and leader, of course they know who you are. Anyone not drinking kool-aid is marked.
And in Dell learning all you need to do is have a different thought than the VP and you’re gone

This 1000% is happening. Don’t tell the truth on those surveys or you will be laid off. Right Michael Dell?!

If you are angling for severance just let your boss know in March what your Tell Dell is going to look like. They'll make sure they can move you on. Don't wait for TD to voice your displeasure

I doubt this actually happened. At least not this year
However, a couple of years back I had a meeting with a manager (worst one I ever had) and he was trying to track down who made a couple of very negative comments. When I was accused of writing them, I didn’t, I simply said the info is anonymous are planning on interrogating the whole team? Because, trust me, it won’t look good for you in the next survey.

My boss got negative feedback on Tell Dell and was asking us who gave the bad feedback. He was trying to pin point who did it. He was the type of guy that would hold a grudge and let you go.

TD results are not yet out, so this is BS

Just a heads up, scores are completely anonymous. That said, if you leave really specific comments that clearly sound like you or point to something only you would say, then yes, your manager might be able to guess who it came from. Same goes if you are the only person on your team who does not speak English as a first language. So in future, if you want to stay anonymous, it is best to keep things a little more general.

lol- Tell Dell is anonymous. I crack up how this keeps coming up and everyone is so sure they know who exactly said what in Tell Dell. We have become a paranoid lot that believe everything is a conspiracy. Grow up.

@aq we had the opposite happen again few years ago. Our managers got a low score, used some common sense and changed their management style. The incessant micromanaging came to an end. Probably why Dell let them go.....

If this incident occurs, please provide the manager's name to report it to HR, as it constitutes a confidentiality violation. Upon receiving the manager's name, we will contact HR to request the reinstatement of your position.

"Narcissistic bosses" make it clear the team, you fu---d me in TellDell, you will have he-l the rest of the fiscal year, you would expect micro management in every interaction with those psychopaths.

@ag they absolutely do see the results before the end of Tell Dell and even have a good idea who submitted the survey.

I was once moved to a new manager during tell dell and I left feedback for the old manager. The new manager came back to me and asked if the survey results were meant for the old manager and I said yes.

Guess what they did? They sent me a new Tell Dell link with a fresh survey;)

The feedback is not completely anonymous. It's tied to the manager and most of the time managers can spot who says what comments based previous interactions. Also HR does get the info ahead of managers at some levels so HR may have shown the comments to the manager and the manager assumed the comments were from you. In the end, it was just an excuse to use to continue the rif without saying you're laid off.

Managers haven’t received telldell results yet. They can’t see your comments or scores yet.

Speak for yourself. I am happy. If you're unhappy, consider moving on. Free up your chair for somebody who wants it.

Did you leave a low score? Narcissistic bosses will definitely not gonna react very well to that kind of feedback and result, especially if in the past it was positive.

Also, the ones that score low will also be put under a question mark by higher ups.

These days you either have to play the stupid game and stick together as a “team” or the whole team is under a threat if there are any slightest issues with anyone.

I am really sorry for your WFR!!! I hope you find a better place after this!

You don't get let go because of your Tell Dell...you got let go because you are a problem at work and your manager would rather let you go to get that stress off his plate than try to keep a headcount.

"It is hard to believe that they'd fire someone for being unhappy. Everyone would be gone if that were the case"

Not hard to imagine at all. At my previous job in sales they let someone go because "they didn't smile enough" she hit all goals given to her but was clinically depressed.
