@b6, did it cross your mind that next round of layoff will solve the parking problem in Chandler?

@bf If you feel that strongly about RTO, then just quit. Why waste your time gaming the system. Go to a company that respects your talent and allows you to WFH.

Try to think of WFH as not the norm, because it is not.

Anyone who is unwilling to WFO will chose to exit and that is for the most part a net positive for the company.

RTO has been used by other tech companies for the same purpose.

@aq LBT wants engineering teams to RTO. Fully Remote will result in Layoff.

So how exactly will RTO be enforced and who will "police" it? I mean for EE's you only have to swipe your badge once when you enter the building, and this mandate does not say when you have to arrive and when you can leave. So, there are still ways to game the system. You could work 1/2 days as in WFH in the mornings and go to the office for a few hours after lunch or vice versa... to get your badge swiped for the record.
Efficiency and productivity will take a hit - but it seems they don't care about that.

What kind of teams can have people cross the world? A project/program manager’s “team” or a high level manager’s team?

Return to Orifice is going to be a colossal failure.
There isn't enough parking in Chandler on the C5 side as it is with all the construction when folks decide to show up (figure about 50% of the workers) - cant imagine how far I will need to hike when RTO is in full force.

I'm in the same situation as @ac.. So, RTO really doesn't make sense to me or for my team.

@ac... is everyone else on your team is in a low cost geo making 1/8 of your salary you are way up on the layoff list. RTO is the least of your worries. They can let you go, hire 4 more people at the other sites and still save half your salary plus benefits. Good luck with that.

Does this apply to fully remote employees?

@ac My team is all over the world, including several U.S. sites.

@a8. So all of your team is 1/8 the cost of you?

@a8, be careful. Employees like you are a low hanging fruit for layoffs. Your team is simply not productive enough if spread out all over the world. You better get involved in local stuff to justify your existence at Intel.

My team is all over the world; I would be the only person in the office. Make RTO make sense.

Even if they say 5 days, it is no USA - managers are not enforcing the policy.

“Some attrition” won’t impact firings, RTO is after summer. Firings are may and June.

If your job requires you to be on site then you should be here, if not you shouldn’t. I am on site every day and don’t need to be inconvenienced by 1000 conversations from cube dwelllers.

That's funny, someone here has to tell people to go read Circuit. RTO will generate some attrition.

4 days instead of 3 for hybrid employees. Not full RTO
