I wouldn't expect any return job offers for current interns even if they are allowed to run out their current term.

@apo Nope, internships have clearly defined start and end dates. And it's often cheaper for Intel to just wait for the internship to end rather than laying off and paying severance (not to mention the fallout with the university's internship/co-op program).
Internship is short term anyway. If there is no more work, do they leave sooner? It would not be called layoff?
Interns will be protected from ISP on their current work assignment.
However, it remains to be seen if interns are funded for future work assignments.
