Cost of lunch in cafe

Am I imagining this? Has the cost of eating the cafe gone up dramatically over the last year or so? It seems like my same lunch used to cost around 650-750 is now 10.50. I think the firm used to subsidize the cafe to keep the cost down. Wondering if they took away the subsidy as part of the cost cutting or to pay for the overly lavish Trailblazer cafe.

@OP, I say "eat at your own risk." Meats either under/over cooked. Too many spices like thyme and rosemary. Haven't attempted the sushi bar yet in the Manchester Cafe. Folks have told me they actually got sick from the sushi. (I like sushi) but I'm going to be picky on where I buy it. It's not from work.

The servers also give small portions for an $8 meal.

@c4 , I recently had a partner pay for my lunch while meeting him for a meeting.

I remember when the partners used to pay for lunches when you walked through the line with them. Coffee too. They were grateful for our hard work. They also paid for team lunches, dinners and holiday gatherings. Now it’s “go grab your lunch” and straight back to work.

I always bring my lunch. It’s not feasible to buy cafeteria lunch on my salary. Honestly.

@ap , I'd rather eat my leftovers from dinners I make. I can only cuss myself out. (Smiles)

@OP Im sure it's inflation. EDJ for sure buys the bulk discount price on the food and I'm sure they get some kind of tax write off for it because they are helping us stay fed or something. I fully expect penny to copy jp morgan and have coffee delivery directly to our desk or plastic box-pod in order to keep us "engaged" in our collaborations.

@a1 my favorite is everyone complaining about the options, eating it every day, then complaining about "stomach issues" every afternoon. Mind blowing.

Haven’t noticed it going up but wouldn’t surprise me because of inflation. I doubt the firm stopped subsidizing.

Why would anyone choose to eat in the for-profit cafe? Bad enough to be forced in, so why put your money in their pockets as well? Bring food from home or do without...
