Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

I'm not here because I want to be

It cracks me up how people talk about teamwork at TD like it’s some magical thing happening every day. Most of us are just patching holes and trying to keep things from falling apart while a few folks float from chat to chat. We stay because life outside the job is expensive, not because we want to be here. I've been here long enough to remember the time when that wasn't the case, but it certainly is now.

I’m sure the Leprechaun really appreciates all your effort while he’s collecting millions and doing nothing all day.

@an Totally Agree. It’s like a marathon- you just keep going and you get it done! Teamwork! Someone should write a book about it! ;-)

@ax You were happier when VL was here? Well then, let me share his advice while we were at our SKO in 2018 which was “Either Get on Board with the Program or GTFO”. Still great advice today (go VL). That comment and the YUGO comment were my favorite VL quotes. I love a man to can speak in layman’s terms and not mince words. Were you at SKO?

Do yourself a favor and go find something that makes you happy. That would also be a gift to someone new to Teradata who would appreciate having a good Job and actually be thankful.

I agree with the OP as several of us enjoyed the company more several years ago than we do now (back in VL/Oliver days)...in fact, the culture today under SM is depressing watching the company die a slow death, filled with the anxiety that someone is going to call you to share your job has been eliminated so EPS numbers next quarter can continue to hide the ugly truth, regardless of how well you were performing. The insulting, condescending dou--ebag comment by our 'buddy' basically sums the current culture and while I never hope anybody loses their job, I would NOT lose any sleep over this clown if he lost his...

You need to get your act together buddy, and do the job that you were hired to do. I get it, yes it is hard being an adult and doing your job. When Teradata hired you they gave you some job, none of which are complaining here anonymously on this board.

The culture at Teradata was and still is excellent and it sounds like you're floating from "chat to chat". I've been here for 8 years and I can tell who's doing their job and who isn't. Teradata pays well enough to be able to afford living comfortably around the office if you're not able to then you're clearly not budgeting correctly.
