Thread regarding Microsoft Corp. layoffs

Let that darn stock hit $600.

Cut 20K more. The street will love that. You'll destroy the company along the way, but once exec bonuses are paid out nobody will care any more. What a pathetic leadership.

Even with these cuts, the company has over 40,000 more employees than 4 years ago globally.

Excluding these cuts, the company has 15,000 more employees in the US today than 4 years ago.

I understand these forums are a place for people to vent, but some of the THY END IS NEAR posts are laughable.

This feels so much like how CVX and how they do layoffs every half-year. Welcome to the continuous reorg and the sword of Damocles hanging over your head. It su-ks.

@a2 Sure! The only reason your mgr was persuading you to stay was so they would have the next person lined up to be put on the layoff list, either in May, in July, or next quarter.

All this mumbo jumbo over AI. As I said yesterday….. Really pour all that you have, all that you know into the AI knowledge bank. Your jobs are safe and secure. Keep developing AI and help make it streamlined. Everything else will all just work out. Take college courses on coding, scripting and programming. All the rumors of those jobs being under threat via AI is a huge farce. Burn the midnight oil, sacrifice all of your spare time and weekends on learning coding. It can only benefit you in the future. Trust me on this….you are not in danger of losing your job to AI.

An Indian CEO at the helm? No wonder AI (All India) is front and center in their strategy.

Outsourcing and cuts are not "AI". This "AI" thing is a lie and a smokescreen.

Microsoft investing Billions in AI. They didn't do that to keep human labor around. They have AI to do your job. No complaints, Not having to pay for medical insurance, No 401K match, No lawsuits, etc. Humans cost lots of money throughout the life of an employee at Microsoft. While AI cost mainly upfront money and then for a few upgrades here and there.

Ha! Destroy it? It would take at least 50 more years or an earth level power outage.

I resigned in April. At the time, my manager was actively trying to persuade me to stay... and lo and behold, back in June, she was let go himself.
