We had the internal call talking about the restructure which fair enough seems to be very needed. The MS sales org has more specialist sales than I have ever seen at another tech company.
The org is wildly bloated and many stand in the shadows not contributing. In saying that, this isn’t the ICs fault but whomever dreamed up this structure and org chart seems like someone who never worked at another tech company. You don’t need 15 sellers you need more technical aptitude in the architects and SEs
In any case what has everyone heard internally?
This will be my first layoff round since working at MS and it seems like we were told not many would be affected in our team but redistributed across the customer territory. So instead of having a specialist across multiple states now they will have more products across a smaller territory. That makes a lot of sense.
There still seems to be way too many middle managers whom you never hear from and I’m not sure what they do everyday
