@ba not in NY, they just changed NY to unlimited carryover. Nobody forced their hand and there was no new law passed. It's because they love us that much. They don't pay out accrued PTO in NY upon separation.

I would bet they're waiting until next year. At the beginning of the year, all unused PTO over 40 hours will expire (unless they're legally prevented from doing so.) So if they wait until then their layoffs will cost a lot less. Use your PTO while you have it folks! I would bet it will be right at the beginning so you don't continue accruing PTO. But however late it is, you can bet that it will be before the yearly bonuses are handed out.

They just yanked another US-based contractor from our team, this week. Their last day is the 25th.
