What are the odds they make me actually work the 2 weeks (not a direct competitor or operator)? Any advice on how “best” to leave?

@jw IT doesn't work like that just because some one is leaving put them in NSI they don't do it unless the person was already their target
@jw How would you go about convincing your manager to drop you from Outstanding or Excellent to NSI?
@jw, my PDS review has already happened and I got a job offer after the meeting, so I can’t ask to get piped anymore if I wanted to. It would have worked out perfectly but nope
I call BS. If this was real, the poster would be asking how to fenagle their way in to getting a NSI to PIL in July and 3 months severance. No one actually working at XOM would be stupid enough to quit for nothing in late May/June.
@OP Depends if you’re in Texas or another country. If Texas, you do not have to give them any notice.
What I have seen is that normally people give a two‑week notice, and managers need an official written resignation to inform HR and IT. Normally you document and hand over your work (not an obligation, you can leave whenever you want since it’s at‑will. )The two‑week notice is a courtesy so you don’t burn bridges. At XOM, people usually don’t share their next appointment with anyone because of the snakes (it’s up to you).
Just send at least one AI generated email per day (CC your boss) and do some visibility of work and you will be fine
@ak, so when you gave them the option, what did they choose and why? Ie: did they keep you around to finish up a project or just let you go immediately?
Please leave. Now.
OP is no way a real person working at the company. Gets his kicks by writing BS “I can’t sleep” posts.
No need to do a handover. Just tell them your last day. There is no law that says you have to give them notice. Considering the way they treat us no need to do anything for them.
@OP I wouldn’t resign unless you’re ready to have your badge/credentials pulled on the spot.
It depends, when I resigned I told my manager I could stay two additional weeks or I could leave the day I put in my resignation.
Depends on boss I would think. Our guys sent you packing as soon as you said leaving. Their arrogance goes beyond professionalism.
Make a point to tell them you're going to leave to work for a competitor and chances are you will be gone that day.
