Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Losing this job might have been the best thing

When I was cut, I actually felt relieved. Soul-crushing anxiety that’s been building for years finally lifted. Walking away from Intel felt like breaking free. I’m giving myself a breather, taking the next two months just to enjoy life. After years of pushing myself hard for next to nothing, I deserve that. I do have plans for what comes next. They may work out, or they may not. But I know I’ll pull through. We can’t keep letting ourselves be at the mercy of someone else’s poor decisions and whims. I’ll never again let myself be dragged into someone else’s chaos for months on end, only to end up nowhere. The only real resolution for us has always been to leave and rebuild somewhere else.

Capitalism. Only products matter. People are replaceable cogs.

This is what's wrong with the good old USA. Your post reeks of self-pity and failed vainglory.

Sc it up buttercup. Did you give everything - 100 percent of all your efforts and resources to Intel? I bet you didn't.

I fear for the future. So many weak little simps that need to be schpancked into reality.

Yes, it is the best stress test for one's finances. Helps figure out all excesses and trim them out.

Sour grapes. You must be short handed at the Tavern

@a1 Sure, just like the Grapes of Wrath, head west.

But be sure to stop in Helvetia for one of those really large burgers.

In fact, you may not want to go all the way to Astoria, as it is a tourist trap, so maybe rent a place in Helvetia and work at the tavern so you can get free burgers.

You know, just like in Grapes of Wrath.

I recently proposed my resignation to my manager. They essentially provided a 2 year guarantee of employment with RFH. I wouldn't go public with this until I confirmed a handful of others negotiated the same

Getting cut reminds me of my divorce. At the time it seemed like my life was over. I was depressed and didn't think anyone would want me again. A few months later I looked back on it and realized it was the best thing that'd ever happened to me.

Looks like the Quitter Troll finally left, yet he still posts about leaving so maybe he never will actually leave.

Interestingly, after leaving Intel it took a few months to realize that that job was like a toxic relationship someone has been to. While working there I couldn’t realize that.

It will work out, just be prepared for the hardest thing getting a job after Intel, especially if you've been here 10+ years. Companies view old time Intel employees as out dated from a loser company. Don't let that define you just work hard.
