DEI

Do you think citi will get rid of DEI and layoff everyone in that department?

I will probably get laid off for being part of It all... and was no benefit to my career. No recognition or promotion.

My team has a lot of "different" people on it. Does it mean my manager will be against the Law for hiring them?

People need to stop thinking they are expert themselves, living in denial makes them to acknowledge other people’s ability. For example some ethnic group thinks they are better than others. DEI shouldn’t be there. Why can’t we go back to the original hiring where never used to work towards, family referrals, friend referrals, coworker Friends preference, and certain ethnic group preference while hiring instead the original way of hiring is checking on the resume and their actual skills and experiences? Here what we are seeing is one certain group is developed through friends and ex coworkers referrals. If they keep doing this how will they get to interview actual talents?

Is it racist to judge people based on their skin color?
is it racist to judge people based on what they look like?
Does DEI judge people based on their skin color?
Does DEI judge people based on what they look like?

My guess is they do away with "formal DEI" and just integrate the staff into HR and pursue the same policies. That gets them the result without the political nonsense. From my perspective we've been essentially trying to do this under different names since I've started 20 years ago. Like most things we do here, the premise is sound, but we fumble the execution.

One of the biggest head winds for DEI is the 46 different orientations such as what facebook offers to pick from. 46 s@xual orientations, thats looped into the DEI bucket.
The push to revamp all documents including legal documents to list all the orientations.
Imagine going to the doctor and filling out the paperwork and you get to that section. Eyeroll. If it wasn’t for this type of thing in addition the exuberant cancel culture, DEI wouldn’t even be a topic of discussion. That’s the point though. There are those that need to have that as a topic of discussion. Their need to be seen and daily acknowledged permeates and consumes all things. For those of us who just want to get on with our day and move on with dealing with other things in life, its all noise.

As one democrat female voter who this time voted for Trump phrased it: “I’m more concerned about food on the table rather than pronoun enforcement right now.”

No. I don't think it will. DEI is supposed to make sure everyone is included regardless of race/gender and make sure everyone has an opportunity of fairness.
It benefits everyone, women included who are sometimes left out or not equally paid as their male counterparts. I don't think it should be banned and I don't think Citi will ban it.

DEI is not bad. Its a good thing to have in place to make sure everyone has what they need to succeed in their roles. DEI is looked at through the lens of it benefits people of color only when in reality it benefits everyone for different reasons. DEI improved maternity leave, helped shape paternity leave, gave women regardless of color avenues to grow in male dominated sectors. It also gave men the opportunity to grow in female dominated sectors such as in education and healthcare. DEI is a good department to have at all companies because it forces you to see how your company operates through a diverse lens.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 Prohibits discrimination in hiring, promoting, and firing based on race, color, religion, s-x, and national origin.
How does DEI prohibit this type of discrimination?

They will have to. Citi has government contracts meaning if Citi wants to keep those contracts they will have to comply if its mandated. Remember the covid vaccine mandate Citi forced on us?

DEI is good for business. Not efficiency in business , but good for bringing in business from all walks of life, by demonstrating inclusiveness. More incoming revenue at a fraction of the cost.
