Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Employment Lawyer?

Has anyone else who has been laid off in NJ contacted an employment lawyer?

The notification itself suggests to do so, but I don't know ehere to begin. I have no illusions about retaining my job, but want t9 be clear on certain things. For instance, it sounds as if yo get another job during the WARN period (internally or externally) you might forfeit severance.

@bx LOL if I land another job before my off payroll date no one at Verizon will hear of it. I am getting my severance!

@a6 I've had a bad week, but it can't be nearly as bad as your life must be to be such a miserable person. Yes, i made some typos, fat-fingering on a phone. Should have worn my glasses I suppose.

Now go play with puppies or something.

If you get another job internally, of course you don't get severance. If you resign before your end date for an external job, you don't get severance. That would be in your paperwork, what that end date is.

no laws were violated... it's a waste of time and effort. remember v and other corporations lobby & make the employment laws - @aj
defending this nonsense is both immoral and dishonest
btw, in case it has also escaped you,
lobbying = bribing
They just, through obscene wealth, legalized ignoring the will of the voter and took away the citizenry's only power against tyranny, while using public funding to do these propagandist ads.

@aj, are u just saying that because that's how you feel, so, in your mind, it must be a fact, or are you just spouting off because the alternative's uncomfortable for you and doesn't fit your contrived narrative?

"I don't know ehere [sic] to begin...but want t9 [sic] be clear on certain things"

Sir, spoken like a true leader. I couldn't have flubbed it any muddier myself.

Why are you not still here deep thinker?

"it sounds as if yo [sic] get another job during the WARN period internally...you might forfeit severance"
You do know that you're allowed to proofread something before you hit the submit tab (and that carelessness in your presented work is a reflection on your work ethic)?

OP, my advice talk to a lawyer (and don't answer and upvote your own post mere minutes later, let it be a mystery)

My understanding is that for NJ employees there is currently a class action suit because the NJ WARN Act was not observed.
