Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

The dr-g addiction, alcoholism, and mental illness Allstate causes

Since middle of last year I know more than a few co-workers and friends from other areas of the company that have been pushed to the limit by the evils of Allstate. The unwarranted layoffs and associated stresses related to as well as the short staffing combined with the borderline criminal abusive and unethical practices endured by employees has resulted in many cases of new dr-g addiction, alcoholism, and mental illness diagnosis to many in the company I care about. The work at home conditions help enable the drinking and dr-gs during the workday. There have been numerous days that multiple people in my area and that I know from other areas are drunk and doped up by the end if the workday. This has to have at least some bearing on the lack of being able to meet volumes and workloads. I even know managers that are drunk or high on the clock daily. This is what Wilson and Shapiro drive people to with their unacceptable direction and intolerable processes. People that no more than a year ago were professional and clean are now daily drunks and junkies. It is very very sad.

And the mental illness and breakdowns are just as bad. Almost daily someone either breaks down crying or goes off screaming and yelling as they have been pushed to feeling hopeless about what is going on.

This company's abusive practices and environment will end up resulting in overdoses, drunk driving accidents, and stress heart attacks. It is getting so difficult to witness.

With the way the drugs and alcohol were being consumed during the workday at Inno Park in Charlotte no surprises that the booze and drugs would be flowing while working from home.

I joined Allstate for the drugs and alcohol.

I’m approaching five months sober; always had a borderline relationship with alcohol but last year and this company put it over the edge. I’m not going to defend Allstate but drunks drink and addicts use and will find a reason to until they decide to get help.

Zoom meetings are available online if anyone is ready to ask for help:

Formulate and work the plan to get away from this gaslighting toxic employer. As with any abusive relationship it’s never easy to get away but well worth it. Nothing about this place is healthy.

These are tough times, no doubt, but we are all responsible for ourselves in the end. Get help if you need it, get out if you must, but take control of your own fate.

@eyn A lot of us are stuck. Only jobs in these parts are retail, food places, and hotels. Nothing in our field. A lot 9f remote jobs are starting to limit to living within 50 miles of that particular center. Some areas like mine the job market is almost non existent. We have to eat and have a roof. Until something better comes up this is what this awful company has forced upon us.

If you need that to do your job, why are you still at that job? Starting to sound like a bunch of drama queens...

I don't drink or do drugs on the job but I know people that do. It is their way of coping. They are all at home so don't see how the company would find out or how they would make it much of their business. They don't care a bit about us anyways. However I have been on blood pressure medication and my doctor was shocked how this job has affected me mentally and physically over the last year. Blood pressure and stress issues that I did not have a year ago and I have gained 50 lbs due to stress eating. Never did that before. And when you throw up every morning before you log on but not at all on the mornings of your days off it is the job.

See your doctor and get placed on STD for mental problems.....
Once you do, Allstate can’t touch you and you will continue to get paid as you begin to recover from experiencing this awful corporation that abuses its American based employees as a part of its corporate strategy...
Pure evil!!

I thank the OP for giving this some attention. I as well know people so stressed that they drink on the job to try and make it through the day. I do not drink at work but I find myself drinking noticeably more on weekends and some nights after logging off. It sometimes can take 2+ hours to detox from the day to where I am approachable by the family. I find myself forcing myself to stay awake at night at long as I can as sleeping brings a new day of agony at Allstate much too quickly. I always have bathroom problems from the stress and many of my team members are on meds for stress.

I started going to therapy to help with the work stress and find away to cope/manage my workload better. My therapist was appalled by most of what I told her and helped me realize that this was not normal. Instead of trying to learn coping skills to tolerate this abuse I needed to quit.
