This is like a game of chicken. I do not want to leave now, because I do not want them to save money on me. I also do not want to spend months in anticipation of being fired. Not to mention the joy of working in a toxic environment, where everyone is stressed day after day and not capable of doing any meaningful work. Me included. Been there, done that. Many times. So, I may as well budge first this time.

They will not negotiate, I tried. They will humor you in the moment but that's it.
I was there long enough to get the full 6 months of severance. You basically get two weeks for every year there. It caps at 6 months, unless you made over 200k, then it caps at a year I think?
@aiq+1qKsmNvQ what was your severance package like? and how long did you work for Nielsen? did you get a chance to negotiate? I really appreciate if you could let us know the numbers.
Do you the bare minimum and let them lay you off to collect your severance. Don’t let them save money on you, and don’t be so worried, just start looking for new jobs now if you want.
I was laid off in September and hindsight is 20/20. My advice to you is, if you are getting severance, let them lay you off and get the severance, and don’t worry at all about the layoffs. If it happens to you, it happens to you. It is what it is.
