Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Why do it like this?

Why are people being escorted out like common criminals? What are they achieving with that? How hard is it to show some humanity and do this is a way that helps people preserve their dignity? This company does many things wrong, but this takes the cake in my opinion.

Every employee that does not self select to resign gets the royal treatment. It’s not personal just business. And remember you are not a kindergarten teacher supplying your classroom/office.

I understand the reasons, but why say that layoffs will be done with dignity. It’s better to say nothing about it.
If you have a company phone, make a list of your contacts. Get your personal data off of it if you value it. Once you are called to HR, you won’t have that chance.

Too many cases of employees reacting badly to news of their termination. This is why they make sure to get them in front of HR, ensure that the employee doesn't make any detours, remove all forms of access and watch them leave the premises.

The reason is simple in the past some employees got out of control. I understand most people are not like that but there were a few that the police need to be involved.

Dignity? Another empty promise!
Load any personal items into your car now - just in case.

“We will treat you with dignity and respect” is a joke! When you’re called to take the walk of shame, they make sure it is as humiliating as possible. Your read a cold statement, stripped of your badge, sign here and officer so and so will walk you out. When the door opens a pimple face security guard - looking like he is playing dress up in his daddy’s shirt Is waiting to walk you out of the building. Outside of the building your greeted by two or three police cars. There is absolutely no dignity in their process. It’s quite the opposite. Their process is intended to be as humiliating and humbling as possible. This is what you receive after 26 years of service.

They didn’t even let us come into the office today. Told us to stay home so they can clean the shop. Got a text last night requiring my presence in a conference call where HR told us the news. I’ve never felt more like an insignificant number in my life. Glad I’m out, probably wouldn’t have ever left on my own, so now I get to find something better.
