Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Stay away from TD if you can

I'm very serious, if you can find a job anywhere else do it. This is the kind of place you go to if you want to see your career die. If you are good at what you do, everybody will see you as a threat and any chance of moving up will be removed. Basically, you will have to work for somebody who at best should be your assistant.

So much this @ahk+1aXQuzNi! I resigned because HR refused to consider a manager blatantly lying as an Ethical issue. I’ve never worked for a worse human being in 25 years than the incompetent Director in CSS. Her boss was a close 2nd. The entire company is a Ponzi scheme.

Teradata HR is a joke. They are a tool for management not the associate. Name one time they stood up for an associate. Think how many times they stood by and supported managers during a RIF.

Since joining 2 years ago, I was taught that whenever I have to speak in front of a crowd (like the pink list customer reviews) that I should have the script LITERALLY WRITTEN OUT in front of me. Read it directly and don't utter a single word more. The goal is to keep your head low and don't make any waves. Waves get attention and upper management asking your manager questions that she does not want to have to answer.

Very true and don’t forget taking credit for your work. Most cannot talk up a few levels to share this frustration. Many explicitly told NEVER to talk one level up under the excuse of “minimizing noise” to a VP. There is no open door.

HR trolls, start looking at resignations over the past six months— not RIF or retirement but voluntary resignations. You will see patterns. Many are not tied to strategy but tied to sheer exhaustion of trying to do good and provide value but being suppressed and found other companies that value them.

I’m out .. waiting for an offer and can’t wait to say ba-bye. TD will not miss me.
