I joined BNY Mellon a year ago and it's nothing like I expected it to be. Minimal training, too high expectations, and lack of direction in my team are just a few things that stand out in my first 12 months here. I'd be looking forward to being laid off by now like so many others but I haven't been here long enough to benefit from a severance package. All I can do is hope it gets better.

This is one of the many reasons I left, there are better places to work.
I’m long gone but at peace with the fact that I will never get my stuff back. I’ve lost about $350 but the reality is that there is no way that BNYM could ever have accounted for and tracked it properly, I know, believe me…
Keep all of my stuff… enjoy! Have a ball on me…
If you wait long enough, they will ship you an empty box with another label inside. That's right.
2fjj+1da3ioa5 Do you actually expect them to give you the box too?
Kinda hard to ship a laptop in a label.
ahi+1da3ioa5 They were supposed to send you a prepaid label for you to send your laptop back somebody dropped the ball obviously as usual. If you really want to get rid of it that bad try getting hold of somebody in our tech group and they can send you one. One less piece of BNYM misery to have to worry about.
There is a minimum number of weeks that they will pay you for according to your level.
Its been nearly a year since I left and I was a contractor. I left on my for a full-time role. I still have my BNY badge and laptop... When I left, my BNY manager said HR would tell me what to do with them, but they never did. I reached out to my manager a few weeks after I left and my manager said they would check into it and not a peep since then. Nothing from my former manager, director, or HR despite me reaching out. The offices are/were closed due to COVID, not sure how to turn it in. So..uh...yeah. #assetmanagement? #infosec?
On the bright side, after your RTO, maybe they will have better bagels in the cafeteria.
I am so sorry that you had to get mixed up with such a horrible pathetic place to work in. Luckily you are only here for a year so the shock of leaving for you will wear off much faster than the shock of those of us who have been here for a very long time and who were let go faced. Try and find yourself someplace else to go because believe me when I tell you being a martyr here means nothing and they could care less about you because when your number is up it's up. Good luck.
Sorry you made the mistake of joining such a LOSER firm.
Hopefully you can find something else soon.
Someone else should confirm this is correct but I THINK you get 2 weeks pay per year of service but :
1 year service is you get minimum of 1 mth severance OR if your above a certain grade (I maybe?) 3 mths minimum.
- It’s technically not severance - it’s an insurance pymt.
Anyone know what/if anything the layoff benefits are after 1 year of service?
