Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Control the controllables

Layoffs in 2026 are inevitable and I can’t help but chuckle when people come onto this board to whinge about more layoffs are coming.

Are layoffs stressful? Absolutely. No one is denying that. One thing you can do is change your mindset.

Control the controllables.

You can’t control whether you are going to be laid off or not. What you can control is finding a new job. It’s not easy to find a new job in this market, so start looking now. Don’t wait until your job is impacted to look for a new role. Who knows… you might get lucky… engineer yourself a redundancy when you have something else lined up. To do so, you have to be smart. You can’t be bitter. It takes weeks to engineer a redundancy so get your ducks in order! There is life post Citi. You might surprise yourself. You may enjoy life after Citi more than you enjoy life at Citi. Food for thought.

@g3 To be fair to me, it was objectively gibberish. Obviously English isn’t their first language. The message should have been crafted using Google Translate.

@ek someone pouring their heart, you called it gibberish and you think by doing this they/you are helping them?? Get a life and get the sh-t out of here. If you had little bit sense/intellect you would have understood that what you stated about mnc mentality everyone knows that, don't need your HELP for that. It's a layoff page, if you're so positive and happy go lucky - BFFR

LOL! The people on this site are so pathetic. Couldn’t see people wanting to help if it slapped them in the face. Let’s play the victim and be bitter because surprise surprise, big multinationals think of the shareholder more than the employee. The fact that you think it all works differently is laughable! Good luck with retaining your job at Citi and even better luck finding a job elsewhere with your attitude.

The phrase is, "...get your ducks in a row", not "...ducks in order".

@OP I don't want to be rude, you are right, not sure about others ,I am not whining about layoff, my frustration is how me from the extra ordinary resource, become normal because management changed, how every meeting, every day was toxic because some id--t was put as middle manager whose life motto was trying to pull me down, and then made me stop for internal opportunity and then layoff..It's not layoff ,it's cleaning successor on the way. So this to show that what's happening is not correct. You know what that's why they need to mark layoff candidate as ineligible for rehire because they know what they did and fear if they come back and prove themselves from some other team, their actions will be revealed.
