Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

The extractive model can only go so far

You can’t raise fees forever, and you can’t keep cutting people indefinitely. At some point you either build a sound business, or everything eventually falls apart.

@ah If you were here with stock bonus that dropped in middle management with lots of money in it, the statistical chances are you are part of the problem.

@ag

Notice how many can downvote and get angry... but nobody has a coherent reply with any logic to refute?

The hungry heavy hitters we get we force to suffer and d-mb down daily through dealing with id--ts.

so if i work really hard and get the stock back to $100, i'm still way under water. but people off the street buying the dip will be up 50%. where's my incentive??????

agree there is still unlimited fat to trim. at the same time hire some hungry heavy hitters and rebuild if possible. 30/70 this thing can be bailed out

It will not end. Whether your ego can accept it or not, this is the reality;

(1) most employees are not a net positive, or they have a lose/lose mentality so they generate new work by taking shortcuts because they live for a paycheck only. So you always can cut from this big pool of workers, since they aren't irreplaceable other than some minor training. Anyone can fill in those warm seats.

Meanwhile, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do 99.5% of the work... and yet we can't hire the people who can do it WELL. People don't manage up at every level, and go along with stupid sh-t at middle manager level like outsource more.

(2) the managers don't often fire anyone who deserve to be for political or humane reasons, or because they don't want to get fired for pointing out the issues, so a fractional amount of people are preventing the entire org from imploding faster if they are not improving.

(3) people are hired to clean up and maintain all of the garbage, but a big percent of those people are just doing (1), a big percent of those go on to do (2) because they are there to maintain appearances.

The cycle keeps going, and there is unlimited fat to trim. Most public companies are like this.

But instead of get emotional and call me names tell me where you disagree. Or call me names and get it off your chest. idgaf! but what is wrong in what I wrote logically speaking?

And let's not get into the very top corporate level execs, we all know they are slimey. That's almost a universal. I am talking about why Fiserv and most multinational corporations can cut endlessly and why the quality of product is fu--ing slop no matter what.

let's face it, the only people left are the politicians and game players. the people who could execute and have talent left. this is a pretty big rebuild.
