Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What size RSU grants can we expect this year?

I have typically received something in the $100k range. Suspecting it might be smaller this year

Do the math on your RSU grant and you'll quickly realize what type of time horizon is necessary with the stock just to cover the taxes on the share allocation. Do you really think Dell will double in value in the next five years? Ten?

“LMAO you dont get 100K, but for those asking RSU is restricted stock unit and for leaders that want to entice their team member to stay this is what they use. you get the RSU and it vests in 3 or 5 yearly installments depending on your I or M level. vests means it becomes available to you to transfer from the investing company to you. the reason this is used when your leader wants to keep you from fleeing is that if you do actually leave the company you lose whatever isnt vested.”

Sr Director (M11) here. I regularly receive between $75k-$100k RSU grants. Some of the people on my team DEa and SDEs receive RSUs in those ranges as well

“Why waste space on this BS? ! You obviously don't know a thing about getting RSU under Dell. The RSU is based upon the NUMBER of stock options. What they are worth at the time of vesting is unknown - until they actually are vested.”

Actually, you are granted a specific amount of $ which is then later (when approved by the board) converted to a number of shares (based on the price that day) of which will vest in equal portions over three years.

@ah+1jmyw0d82 sounds like the OP knows what he's talking about, as do you.

RSU are restricted stock units, not stock options. RSUs are granted at a specific $$ amount, which then translate to a specific number of shares depending on stock price at grant. Then those stocks can be sold at whatever the stock price is after they have vested. So you're both right.

I bet the stock sizes don't change all that much, but people who are used to getting them might not anymore.

Definitely a thing. I’ve got 10% of salary over 3 years each of the last 3 years. I suspect those days are in the past though.
