Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Hard to leave this company.

I got an external offer from NM. And even after all the changes and lay offs the last two years it’s still hard to leave. Anyone else felt this or have left and found something better?

Thats the sad thing, I know many of you have valid grievances about the work environment deteriorating in recent years but unfortunately its has become really bad in most other places too so we still have it good in comparison. :( For every person that leaves there are thousands lining up to take their place in the unlikely event the position is backfilled

You were interviewing for a reason, so unless that reason has changed, you should test the waters. Having worked at other places, I can tell you it will be difficult to earn this type of money with similar expectations of work-life balance. Your trade-off at NM is working with average talent on a reasonable schedule and getting rewarded relatively well. You might earn better money somewhere else, but you will likely need to up your game (compared to your peers) m and work harder / longer hours.

My only advice is to not chase things that can easily change (remote policies) or things that you could solve by taking an internal role (cr-ppy manager).

Hey why so much of hatred? Chill let me zoom in for you @ah+1jmcnxdhe
This company uses DEI like a REI jacket, embracing it when needed to take advantage of tax benefits. Once that season ends, these hires would be dropped off mid air without a safety jacket. The new captain is dedicated to fully embracing DEI in the field to attract a broad customer segment, that way he can sell all the broken products for a Gucci price.
At the end of the flight, the WM's are in a better position as they at least receive a severance package when laid off! We can't think the management treats them like a business class, that's not the case here. Actually the WM are the tough ones so the management is generous to avoid potential lawsuit.
Again this is the perception of a practical thinker who is neither a WM/F or DEI hire. I love every human on this planet!
