It is rather interesting, almost funny, that when we're surplussed, union workers actually get more than managers. The termination pay for union workers is more than severance pay for managers and the ongoing medical, dental and vision benefits are much better for union workers than for managers. We're all going to eventually be laid off - that's inevitable - however when that day comes for each of us, union workers are for sure better off than managers.

@OP is nothing but a brain dead union dolt. These guys are uneducated… and while still underpaid in comparison to national averages, overpaid for their low IQ. I think it’s hilarious they’re shocked to learn managers make twice their salary even with the OT. Poor ba----ds. You don’t have it as good as you seem to think you do!
@b0 principal inventive scientist
@av post your job title then. No Way. BS.
What is the point of this post? Are you trying to convince yourself you’re better off in the union? Clearly no one agrees with you, lol.
The union is full of boot licking loozers
Who cares? Anyway, I would never work for the union. Your post is a total fallacy. Quit the day dreaming.
Whelp, back to the truck and harness up. Be sure to drink plenty of water. It’s hot out there, boy! Now work my tickets.
@at LOL. wrong. You wish.
Most managers make well over $200k. And all I do is show up and sit at a desk for 8 hours a day working on my side gig. You enjoy those long hard 16 hour days to match the pay I get for 8 sitting in the AC.
This post is spot and what manager is making $240,000. No Way. Manager bonus 24k but a tech makes no taxes on OT. And that number is over $100,000 extra a year. And the medical issue is huge. Managers who get surplused get ready to pay for just you and your wife $1800 plus a month. Union employees are covered. Never be a Manager At&t controls your future. You do not. Ask all those managers surplused in the past 10 years. All the down votes are employed after 2009. You get no pension and your uuid ends in a letter not a number. Fact.
@ar management bonus is always around $20k or more. Union bonus is about $200. It’s not even comparable.
1 Who cares?
- I got a 25k bonus last year. What was yours ?
@an AT&T pays well below market for most roles
@ac that same job in Atlanta is 1/2 that amount. Glad you all are making that kind of money, I’m not even close to that and am lucky to get a 2% raise with an exceeds rating. And I’m over here doing coding and AI. Man I need another job.
@ah LOL you union bootlickers are pathetic. Keep polishing off your stewards boots. You’re a joke.
“ you are the silliest little dooshbag with equipment insufficiencies and sketchy test a calls.”
I have no idea what this means. Maybe I’m just not old enough and pushing 70 like you are.
I work in a closed door office everyday and make more in one year than you do in 5. Your 104 weeks means nothing to me, lol. I’ll walk away with more in my pocket regardless of whatever fake severance you claim.
@ah wow, you must have a lot of time to do all that cache clearing and voting. What are you trying to compensate for? We all know the union blows in comparison to management. You crowing about it on here doesn’t really do anything, does it? Who are you trying to convince? Yourself?
lol. Funny thing is - reading this board, YOU ARE ALL THE REASON you are getting laid off.
I want to wish everyone the best. You need to know that all you high school grads with 20 years and big salaries are going to see a reckoning when you try to replace your $200k salaries. I separated a while back. I waited out my 6 months and tried to return to my Principal role at AT&T. Suffice to say, it didn't happen. I ended up taking another position in the area.
If you're a 'whelper' who thinks you can just flash your AT&T credentials, think again. We are not respected.
And, to the union topic. If you're smart enough to earn the money you are paid, you will find a job. If you need someone to represent you and make sure your a$$ is getting powdered and wiped, your days are numbered. I mean, yeah, you can turn a wrench and swing a hammer, but there are way too many H1Bs who will do the craft jobs. And when its time for them to be forcefully departed, they won't get squat. So, I guess, enjoy the crazy pay and lofty severance and repeat to yourself "I am the reason so many hard working employees are being laid off"
@ad you are the silliest little dooshbag with equipment insufficiencies and sketchy test a calls. Many union members started after high school and now are just reaching 50 getting paid two years termination pay. After that, they can start their pension and 401k payouts. That's pretty darn good. Plus, they get nice medical, dental and vision insurance. Managers get much less. Haha gfy you doosh f'n bag! haha...
@OP is just a blue collar bozo who lives in Louisiana and has no clue of what reality actually is. Nobody in management has ever wished they were union, and never will. You’ve been brainwashed by your union steward… Your hard work pays their salary. What do you think they’re going to tell you? LOL
Whelp, back to the truck and harness up. I’ll open your work tickets from my air conditioned office for double your salary, and you get out there and climb poles in the 100° heat. Now who really has it better? #WakeUp
I’m a manager. Used to be union. This post is pure comedy. Not even remotely close to being true. Being a manager is wayyyy better than union. Take it from someone who knows both sides.
@a5 my bonus was like $30k lol
@aa The union pay must not be that good!!.. If you stayed around long enough to get 104 weeks, you must be pushing 70 at least. I’m not sure you have a lot to crow about still working at your age. Lmfao
@OP I don’t know man... I make $240k here in NJ, and if I’m laid off I get 90 days on payroll, then 6 months severance after. I know I’m much better off than you union guys are, LOL.
When my manager got surplussed, he told me that he got 6 months pay and lost his medical benefits which he said was bad anyways, and when a bunch of union members in my office got surplussed recently, they get to receive up to 104 weeks pay depending on their seniority, plus keep their benefits. This shows how the OP is factual. Yes there are upper level managers making a couple hundred grand but most low level managers make a lot less than that so sorry but it does look like it would $u-k to be a manager nowadays.
@a5 still less than the difference between what managers get and what union members get when surplussed, which is the topic of this post.
@a2 however most managers make about half that
As a manager my yearly bonus is $12-17K.
How much is the craft bonus per year? Oh yeah, $250.00
Managers making $190,000/year are doing just fine.
