With all the managers becoming IC, when are they expected to be left go or will they be kept ?

Their next goal is to begin eliminating positions from teams with more than 20 members. This doesn't make sense from a business standpoint.
It’s not chatter, it’s literally been happening.
I am hearing a lot of chatter about getting rid of managers to meet the 20 person head count.
Most of the managers want to be ICs. The landscape is too political and cut throat. How many people can you layoff before it impacts you mentally? Plus if you’re not a total psychopath or sociopath fitting in as a Dell manager isn’t worth it.
did anyone get an email from managers today about a business update?
Senior managers definitely went to I9, Directors/Sr Directors go to I10.
That being said, this is most definitely a cost cutting move. Not because the pay is decreased with the change, but they are hoping all of these former managers will quit without the WFR. Otherwise they would have just used a WFR to get rid of them
@ag so scary......
I hope the company is smart enough to get rid of them, so shady putting non technical people in IC roles when they got rid of smart ICs :)

"Senior managers became I10 roles and I don't know about other managers."
They gave them promotions?
@bt
We don't know what/who to believe
All in! :))))
August 2025 & September 2025
Don’t believe anyone when they tell you nothings happening.
Some are leaving end of week.
Don't managers/directors get some kind of unproved package when they are wfr'd?
There is no benefit to changing managers to IC as the cost is still the same, to reduce costs these people will have to wfr
Senior ma after became I9, sure tirs are I10
Senior managers became I10 roles and I don't know about other managers. There are now a lot of managers who are technically challenged in I10 IC roles. That is scary.
“Promoted to managerial roles”
Nobody is being promoted to a managerial role. They’re reducing managers. They want people to lead “without title”. MD is a grifter. You should expect something like this coming from him.
Most demoted managers have not left the company
"Additionally, some managers have transitioned to principal engineer roles but are performing individual contributor tasks."
Well that's the point isn't it they aren't managers anymore so will be doing IC tasks
The management restructuring is confusing. Some managers were demoted, but not consistently, while others were promoted to managerial roles without a pay grade increase, remaining at individual contributor levels. Additionally, some managers have transitioned to principal engineer roles but are performing individual contributor tasks. There’s also inconsistency with managers returning briefly, taking vacations, and then leaving entirely. Most demoted managers have now left the company. These changes point to a cultural shift—some even call it a purge—but it's still uncertain whether more managers will be let go.
