Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Any insight on the fall RA?

Feel like it should’ve happened by now. Don’t put it past them to do it during the holidays because they’re disgusting animals, but still, weird that it hasn’t happened yet. Pretty much every BU facing huge budget cites next year. They waiting for Q?

Forget about PIP, you get LPI and straight an MIS, 10% is targetted. Every quarter. Get legal aid, join union. And yes I can confirm its happening.

Interesting. If you are close to retirement (or want to retire) then PIPs are a good way to go. Tell your mgr, you get insurance for a time. This may be the new RA.

IBM gets what it pays for - if Alvind, the Pipmunks and the IBM board want to pay peanuts, then they are forced to hire from a selection of third rate incompetent monkeys from the Third World. The fact that IBM AI is nothing to write home about speaks volumes about IBM FAILURE to keep up with any technology other than outdated mainframes.

Whose fault is that ? Certainly not US employees, who are being put on PIPs and layoffs. Blame the id--ts in IBM US management who can never get anything right.

IBM has d-mbed down many roles and short-staffed other critical roles. This makes it much harder to connect with the customer and meet them where they are at. As a result, interactions are increasingly transactional in nature and customers are getting turned off by that.
So more people are struggling to make KPIs and being shown the door via PIPs. It is unclear if that is intentional or incompetent leadership.
There are fewer and fewer people with deep knowledge as this thinning happens and more and more inexperienced people in those key roles.

The effects of the tech layoffs across the board will be showing more strongly in the next few months, and a lot of what has been going on will become more evident.

(not sure who and why someone downvoted your question, macro implications may affect AK's "plan", hopefully)

Sad to read this. It just means that the F&O Blubber Queen, Joanne Wright is not impacted as usual. Krabanaugh has to protect her for the noble cause of DEI.

Wondering the following:

The next unemployment report comes out on: Fri October 3 (8:30 am ET)

The report may well show a negative job creation. Why do I say that? Because the last report indicated that only 22,000 jobs were added.

If that happens, then what?

The fact that the shtocckk is 260 is beyond my comprehension, so if anyone can explain it to me?

It’ll be October right before earnings. Debandings and Five day work week next. Then another round in spring. Get. Out.

Just got out in time and accepted another position before getting put on a PIP. Last year was 100% club ...top 2 in my team. This year, IQP plan changed and most of the team will be put on plan. Way to drive the good people away IBM.

They figured use all of the WARN loopholes too (to avoid bad publicity, etc), just like H1Bs.

PIPs save IBM money, so that's the direction of Alvind and his Pipmunks. Besides, do they have to give out WARN notifications in the US for PIPs ?

Disgusting animals.

They put a bunch of folks on PIP this quarter so that’s probably what’s happening in place of RAs
