Trump posted: "Mr. Tan and my Cabinet members are going to spend time together, and bring suggestions to me during the next week."
Suggestions for what, exactly?
I see no news reporting on what problem they're trying to solve.

Suggestions about how to make Intel even more awesome.
@qw Try to think of leading edge fabs as critical infrastructure, because that is what they are.
If IFS is able to use govt money and influence to get going with Foundry, that is good for the USA.
Better than building bridges to nowhere and is not welfare of any sort. There will be all manner of conditions attached.
“Powerful” politicians demand zombie factory in Ohio.
Forever to be referred to a President Del Taco, which is not the worst name for someone to be called.
Looks like President TACO is going to enable the Ohio fab to be completed, doing a public-private equity deal of some sort.
This was the PG plan, because there was never any forecasted demand for the additional capacity. It was always going to be something built on the basis of govt investment.
Those seeking lower INTC prices are wound up, but this is no different than how TSMC and Samsung are supported by their governments.
Taiwan even has a say in what node TSMC is allowed to produce offshore.
The only way to compete with that is with strategic investments by the US Govt, because the capital requirements for getting and maintaining a leading node fab are no longer feasible based on any companies product sales. That time has passed.
Right now only Apple or NVDA could foot the bill to do what IFS does, and only while they maintain their monopoly.
The Taco President may have wanted to know at what premium to current valuation the buyout should be priced.
Typically, these kind of buyouts are at a 30% to 50% premium, but since it is the gov't doing the buying, then 100% is fair enough, because they can just print more money.
Apparently the suggestions are for how much INTC the gov't should buy with all that NVDA+AMD tariff money.
@af , the rate may be higher. I suggest it to be 20%
Trump is insane. Anything he says has no bearing with reality.
I like Maga Chips. The new company can sell fish and chips on the side when its semi business fails.
The main proposal is just to steal money from successful, good companies.
suggestions for how to post up as a power forward
Remember, sometimes a Taco is just a Taco.
@ad I like Craig Barett's response mocking 4 former BoD

Suggestion to rename Intel into Mar-O-Lago Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Seeing all she CEOs come to kiss the ring and cave to a poorly educated buffoon is a complete disgrace to the American Hi-Tech tradition.
How best to implement IBM 2.0
wish he would stop day trading
@ag TSMC Heartland?
come back with how much money you will pay mr trump through DJT crypto. Art of the Deal.
Whether it's named "American Semiconductor Manufacturing Company" or "United States Semiconductor Manufacturing Company"
In my 1980s Westinghouse days ... after a large corporation shake up ... we phased the saying ... 'are you inside the fence or outside the fence'.
In a strange way the real question is: What name will be on the Ohio plant when it is complete
Obviously a 15% cut of chip sales.
Foundry split:
The former board members' proposal would create a new, independent manufacturing entity with its own CEO and board, positioned as an alternative to Taiwan's TSMC for both commercial and national security requirements. They called for remaining CHIPS Act funds to support the new company and help "persuade American design firms to place orders."

How to keep the US relevant in semiconductor manufacturing. The US needs to have at least one company that can deliver products on leading edge technology.
I wouldn't view this as a huge turn around opportunity for Intel. This is a desperate attempt by the US government to prevent the loss of a critical infrastructure. I fully expect this to be the slicing and dicing of the company that has been predicted on this site. They want to save the manufacturing capability and that is all. What happens to the rest of the company won't matter since there are other companies that provide those capabilities.
If you thought layoffs have been bad then buckle up because that ride is going to get a lot faster.
