Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

People are losing their jobs while you throw money away on a coffee shop!

So let me get this straight… They’re building a new coffee shop in the Manchester building and redesigning the floors to be more modern—while laying people off?!

What a joke. This is the opposite of being human-centered!

you mean the thing in middle of floor that looks like a hotel lobby? All that is missing is microwaved eggs and a waffle maker.

@OP This isn’t about money, it’s about ideology. The strategy is to remove the older, more tenured people to make way for the “new Edward Jones”. The strategy is not a secret. We may not like the “HOW”, but the “North Star” is to beat the competition and firm leadership doesn’t believe we can do that the “Old Jones” way. Therefore, the “Old Jones” mentality must go.

The leaders really believe in this strategy. They believe the new structure will save us. But the structure won’t dictate how the work actually gets done, how we work together, or what really motivates us. They are really stressing that we need “outside talent” in key partner roles. Gone are the days when we grew talent internally. And all that talent we did grow internally is now being dismissed, which shows it is no longer valued.

Edward Jones is being gutted. We are being disemboweled. It won’t be long before the new core starts to rot and the whole things just stinks as it dies from the inside out. It’s very sad. It’s the best company I ever worked for.

Lets not forget that they are hiring brand new people into HO off the street while they shed very tenured people. BUT THEY ARE NOT COST CUTTING!! I mean getting rid of tenured people gets rid of 3, 4 and 5 weeks of vacation and higher wages. But again, they are not cost cutting.
