Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

April 28 Event

This event has two parts to it from what some have been told. First there are orgs and groups which will see straight up surplus (those whom were unaffected by the earlier Feb surplus). The second he part are those receiving letters indicating that their reporting locations will be changing. There are 40-47 approved locations nationwide. If you report outside of these locations you will receive a letter notifying you that your reporting location will change with further notice of timeline and specific location coming later from your organization leadership and manager. If you are under 50 miles your reporting dating will be much sooner , if it’s over 50 miles you will have an extended period to report to one of the approved locations. This change of workplace location will impact many people and is a silent layoff since they know many will balk at the change and choose to leave. Good luck to all

Not true. My report to location which occurred in January was met with Director approval. I relocated from one location in SC to a reporting location in FL. Only my Directors approval was required. As long as you are choosing one of the major metro offices you are fine.

The guideline of 50 miles is measured by a straight line, but the roads are built on a grid pattern. My commute is 52-56 miles based on the route I take. I never got an exemption to WFH or an option to get severance.

“ Inaccurate…some orgs are targeted for specific locations but others can have their people located in any of the 47 as long as it’s approved by your Director”

Yes, local support staff positions have more flexibility. But thinking your L3 or even L4 has any say is a folly. This is minimum VP and up and more likely goes to SVP. My report to location change went to SVP.

“As anyone who was on Paradise’s town hall about “a list”. Lasers were about to come out of his eyes as he first said “there is no list” then asked “where did you get that, it should not of been released”

Lasers out of his eyes! Lmao! I could totally see that. Maybe some steam coming out of his ears. He loves to get all riled up until he’s talking to Corey. Then he’s all jokes and laughs.

Even when upper management gets caught in lies, they dont admit it.

Good times, good times.

“ Rebalancing for Bedminster due to over capacity. Leadership will use presence reports, type of work- skills assessments and associated cost. So if your job can be automated or performed by someone with minimal skills then I would recommend making yourself available for other tasks that are considered essential.”

… ‘rebalanced’ by teams/locations or mostly just by function?

“If true this will be the first Monday surplus ever.”
With 5x8 now in place, it’s easier to actually be able to contact employees on Mondays and Fridays with unofficial 4-day weekends removed.

Anyone know if this impacts market-based folks, as well? Seems pretty d-mb to take people out of the markets they support, but I put nothing past this awful company and leadership.

Run if you can. I left by request in September and haven’t missed it for one second. What they put people through is a tragedy. Sad to see nothing has changed and they are still treating people like cattle.

"47 locations corporate wide. Only 3 approved for YOUR org."

Locations is different than hubs. There are at least 3 office locations in Atlanta, plus a bunch of other "locations" in the metro Atlanta area.

40-47

And then by end of year 30

And so on and so on until we get to 7 hubs (unless you work in Market).

Don’t agree to move from Jacksonville Fl to Miami, just to be forced to move to Atlanta next year.

It’s all part of the game.

They will find an office 49 miles away to keep you from meeting the mileage requirements for severance, then they will come back after your address updates and require you to report to an office 49 MORE miles away.

Rinse and repeat until you never had an option for severance and you now drive 150-200 miles to get to work.

“ 40-47 approved locations” is BS.

Each org dictates their locations. I promise you it’s nowhere near 40.”

It’s true the org, directors and managers can dictate where employees sit, however it’s going to need to be one of the 47 locations.

“ There is a site on share point easily searchable and open for all to see with 33 approved hub addresses. This does not mean you will be sent to the one closest to you.”

There are actually 40 and an additional 7 not listed there that were Identified as approved for various logistical reasons.

Yes there is. AVP’s and many directors have seen it but not allowed to share

“ Most of what you shared was already known. My AVP told us all of this a month ago.

The number of sites is the only thing that’s new.”

There are literally some states where there are no approved office locations and some where there is only one for the entire state.

Approved locations depends on your org really. They are making those numbers smaller and smaller. And just because you are in a location that used to be approved doesn’t mean that won’t change. Only safe space is Dallas. Some folks in Atlanta getting told to move to Dallas and all the backfills are in Dallas only.
