20:80 ratio at Citi got us now too many managerial layers, where we started seeing heavily bloated MD’s and D’s. Few years ago at Citi we hardly see few MD’s. Now whoever comes in here having the title MD’s. It’s just wasted and added weight to the organisation. What are they doing exactly? Running executives briefings? That too taking reports prepared by some SVP’s and VP’s?

Citi needs to bring more C11, C12 associates for latest technologies rather than relying on 80% vendor resources and unnecessary bloated MD’s and D’s.

These are likely low skilled Indian contract workers who were given the boot. Facing the prospect of losing their visa and heading home. I’d be sad too but glad to see them go,

Nobody will join C11 in tech. Citi needs SMEs. C13, C14… or our competition will hire them.

Grade inflation has been allowed to creep in. There are people reaching SVP, D and MD who would never have earned the title 5 or 10 years ago with their accomplishments and skillset.

If we look at the global directory these days after the reorganisation, it like CIO->CTOs (8 to 15 MDs depends on CIOs) —- 8 to 12 MDs —> each MDs have —> D’s around 5 to 8 —> D’s have another D’s as reporting and few SVPs —> now anyone seeing this can easily understand why this area is heavily bloated. Who made this org structure anyway? Whoever learning or studying about any org failures can look at these structures.
