Hello @4zf - can you provide any more detail? Which business unit? Specific bands targeted? Thx
RA Coming to Canada this week (Nov 3rd)
Mostly execs in October More Staff folks going to get whacked in Nov
Any new rumors circulating about this Thursday?
Any ideas on what art of the business?
Software is currently stacking and ranking the teams. Given the timeline the RA there should be early 2026.
Already happening, list was known september, first LPI, then MIS. We are resisting with worker council.
A number of truly talented and longtime IBMers have been RA’d this week in the Legal Department.
IBM tends to align RA’s with how the current quarters performance is going. Better quarters tend to have later and fewer reductions, and weaker quarters tend to have more and earlier reductions. Given that SW is booming, and infrastructure is in the early phases of the Mainframe business cycle, I suspect fewer and later reductions will be the norm. If you are looking for wild speculation, it would make sense for IBM to absorb infrastructure (remember doing better than expected) into consulting (running flat to actually shrinking). The net result would be a goose to consultings performance, PLUS you could PIP out the infrastructure overlap as consulting would su-k it up
@ae Is it confirmed? I know I will be part of it this time and trying to time start dates for my new opty.
Last year they notified people the third week of September and their last day was in third week of october
Last year's Q3 earnings call was October 23, and the layoffs were October 17 and 18.
Not saying that history will repeat itself, but that was 2024, right?
Software revenue was below analyst expectations for 2Q 2025. The results more kind of mixed, software growth, flat consulting, and a declining Infra. I guess they'd be paying attention to software?
If bad, maybe wait, if like last year, do prior?
Just speculating, feel free to disagree!
Going by history, October 23 , or October 17 would be the date.
RAs are scheduled for October 31.
One week before that 22 date
Makes sense as they wouldn't want to stir the waters, Oct 22 is Q3 earnings.
Almost always the last Thursday
